How to make mattar paneer/ mutter paneer curry
Mattar panner is very tasty and intersting curry ,made using green peas and cottage cheese.Fresh green peas and paneer is cooked in tomato onion gravy with mild spices powder. Paneer (cottage cheese) is a magic ingredient that any dish made using it is extra delicious.
There are many variations of mutter paneer curry ,here I have posted simple curry without any garam masala / spices. While making special Mutter paneer curry adding freshly ground spices / garam masala makes it more authentic.

As its winter and season of green peas and methi( fenugreek leaves) I have added blanched methi leaves in this mutter paneer for more nutrition. And it tastes different with methi leaves.Usually Methi leaves not used for making mutter paneer curry.
Mattar panner is served with type of rotis like naar, paratha or it goes well with rice also.Just follow step by step recipe and enjoy making matar panner at home.

Preparation time:20 min
Cooking Time :30 min
  • Paneer cubes 2 cups,
  • Mutter /green peas 1 cup
  • Tomato chopped 3 big size
  • Onions chopped 2
  • Green chili chopped 4
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • Ginger small piece
  • Garlic cloves 5
  • Oil 1 tb Spoon,
  • Salt as per taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Mustard seeds 9-10
  • cumin seeds 9-10
  • Coriander powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Water 2 cup
  • Cumin seeds powder 1 tea spoon
Directions to Cook :

1. Boil water in a pan and add green peas in it .Let peas remain in hot water for 5 to 6 minutes and switch off gas .
2. Peas will get cooked and become softer. Drain water and keep it aside.
3. Shallow fry /deep fry paneer cubes with some oil in a pan. Keep it aside.
4. For making gravy of mutter paneer:
Chop onions ,tomatoes ,chili,garlic, ginger in small pieces.Keep it aside.
5. Blanch methi /fenugreek leaves in boiling water. (Adding methi  is optional)
6. Grind onions,methi leaves, chili ,garlic, ginger in grinder with some water .Keep it aside.
7. Grind tomatoes ,coriander leaves with water to get fine puree.Keep it aside.
8. Heat kadhai and add oil in it. Add cumin seeds and mustard ,asafoetida in oil to make tempering.
9. As mustard splutter add onion puree in it. Saute for 3 to 4 minutes.
10. Pour tomato puree in kadhai and saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep on stirring veggie puree until oil separates from it.
11. Add boiled green peas in kadhai and mix well.Let it cook for 3-4 minutes.
12. Add cumin powder,turmeric,salt,coriander powder in it.
13. Add fried paneer cubes in kadhai and mix all ingredients properly.
14. Add enough water (As per required consistency) for cooking Mutter paneer curry .
15. Cook mattar panner curry for another 4-5 minutes.
16. Switch off gas and garnish it with coriander leaves.
17. Serve mutter paneer with roti / paratha / naan or rice.

1. Prefer fresh peas over frozen peas for more taste.
2. If using frozen paneer ,take it out of freezer at least before 1 hour of making curry. As paneer in freezer is very hard. Deep frozen paneer in hot water to make it soft.
