A perfect tea time snacks and ideal for kids “Choti bhuk (Small hunger food )”.
Khara puri is type of puri( indian bread) which is made using all purpose flour and spices like black peeper and jeera (cumin seeds).These spices can be powdered or used as slightly crushed. I like using spices slightly crushed in khara puri as it tastes more crunchy.

Khara puri is tasty, spicy in and it melts in mouth too. It can be
served with pickle ,sauce or just as a tea time snacks.
It has good shelf life so can be carried while
traveling also.
Weight watchers can use oil Instead of ghee while making dough for puri.While making khara puri has to be pricked properly to get that perfect hardness or else it will turn into soft puri.
Try this khara puri for summer holidays of children ,it surely will fill stomach and keep them busy in eating as well.

Cooking
time :1 hour
Ingredients:
- Maida (All purpose flour ) 2 cups
- Semolina 4 tb spoon
- Salt as per taste
- Ghee 2 tb spoon
- Black pepper 1 tb spoon slightly crushed
- Cumin seeds 2 tea spoon slightly crushed
- Oil for deep frying
- Water for kneading dough
Directions
to cook:
1.
Mix all dry ingredients except oil in all purpose flour.
2.
Heat ghee and pour it in above flour mixture.
3.
Add water slowly in all purpose flour mixture to knead firm
dough for making puri. Adding more water may make dough watery so
avoid it . Make sure dough is hard as its necessary for getting
crispiness in khara puri.
4.
Keep dough aside covered with wet cloth for half an hour.
5.
Heat oil in kadhai / pan for fryig puri.
6.
Roll small round shape puris by dividing kneaded dough in small
portions. And prick all over puri using knife or fork.
7.
Deep fry pricked puri in oil on low flame.
8.
Drain oil and transfer puri to dry container.
9.
Serve khara puri with tomato sauce ,pickle or any choice of
chutaney.
