Ginger tea



In cold winter days drinking ginger tea /kadha is soothing and gives warmness. Tea has its many health benefits. For tea lovers season don't matter but winter is the season when tea becomes favorite for many . Ginger tea can be used as home remedy for cold ,cough,sore throat also.Anti inflammatory  property of ginger helps to sooth sore throat and helps in treating it. Along with ginger tea masala made using different herbs also used for adding falvours to tea.
As kids don't like taste of ginger I give half cup of ginger tea + half cup of milk to my daughter when she suffers from cold,cough.

Variations :

Black pepper powder :
Add 1/2 tea spoon of black pepper powder in ginger tea. This ginger tea is very effective when suffering from cold ,cough ,sore throat.

Jagery :
Use 1 tea spoon of grated jagery instead of sugar and do not add milk in tea for making kadha as a home remedy for cold and cough. Milk may curdle when jagery added in tea so avoid adding milk.

Cinnamon powder :
Add 1/4 tea spoon of cinnamon powder in ginger tea for making masala ginger tea.

Basil leaves
Crush 3 to 4 basil leaves and add them while making tea.It gives nice aroma of basil to tea and increases immunity as well.

Cloves
Crush 2 to 3 cloves and add to tea while boiling.

Masala for tea
Only black pepper / clove/basil leaves/cinnamon can be used or mixture of all adds more flavours ,more health benefits to tea.
Above ingredients ,black pepper powder ,cloves ,cinnamon,dry ginger ,cardamom and dry basil leaves can be powdered and used as tea masala for making masala tea. Store this tea masala powder in dry air tight container and it can be used for many days.

Dry ginger powder  
Dry ginger powder can be used instead of using ginger in ginger tea.Add 1/2 tea spoon of dry ginger powder in 1 cup  of tea.1/2 teas spoon dry ginger powder mix with 1/4 tea spoon of black pepper powder .Tea made using this  mixture  is extremely effective for people suffering cold ,sour throat , cough ,throat infection.

Cooking time:15 min
Ingredients:
  • Milk 1 cup,
  • Water 1 cup,
  • Sugar 1 tea spoon,
  • Ginger grated 2 tea spoon,
  • Tea powder 1 tea spoon,
  • Tea masala 1 tea spoon,
  • Cardamom powder 1 pinch,
Directions to cook:
  1. Add grated ginger and tea masala in water and simmer it.
  2. Add tea powder in it and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes.It infuses flavours of ginger and tea masala in tea. Keeping flame low makes tea more tasty.
  3. Add milk and sugar in tea and simmer it for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Finally Sprinkle pinch of cardamom powder on tea and switch off gas.
  5. Ginger tea is ready.
