How to make rawa or semolina  dhokala 
Rawa/semolina  dhokala is made from  rawa and its easy to make savory snacks. It is  gujarati recipe  and it has many versions of it. Besan dhokala is very famous snacks and cooed in similar way but with different ingredients.  Its cooked by steaming , using special cooker for dhokala , idli cooker or pressure cooker. I have used pressure cooker for making rawa dhokala by removing its gasket.After removing gasket of pressure cooker steam dosen't pass out and dhokala gets cooked on steam inside pressure cooker.It takes 15- 20 minutes time for cooking using pressure cooker in this way.

Rawa dhokala can be served as breakfast or snacks.Its healthy recipe as cooked by steaming and using very less oil. I often make for snacks tiffin of  my daughter. I add mattar (green peas and carrots pieces in it for making more nutritious ) ,though its optional. Rawa dhokala is easy to digest so can be given to toddlers as a snacks.






Cooking time : 35 min
Ingredients :
  • Rawa/ semolina 2 cup
  • Curd 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Green chili 4 finely chopped
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sugar 1/4 tea spoon
  • Water
  • Coriander leaves small bunch
  • Curry leaves 8- 9
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Eno 1 tea spoon
  • Oil 2 tb Spoon
Directions To Cook:
  1. Mix semolina , curd and water.Keep it aside for 1 hour.
  2. Add green chili , sugar ,salt  in  above  rawa mixture and mix well.
  3. Grease one plate /container with oil.
  4. Heat 2 glass of water in Steamer (or idli cooker can also be used for making dhokala.)
  5. Add 1 tea spoon of eno /fruit salt in semolina batter while stirring continuously. Semolina batter will increase in size .
  6. Pour batter in greased plate and keep plate immediately in steamer.
  7. Close lead of cooker and steam it for 15 to 20 minutes  or until it is cooked.
  8. For checking dhokala is cooked :
    Insert knife in dhokala and if it comes out clean then it is cooked . If it is not cooked steam for some more time. Take dhokala container out after cooking and keep it aside.
  9. For tempering (It is optional)
    Heat oil in kadhai and add cumin seeds , mustard seeds and asfoetida in oil .
  10. Add curry leaves, green chili in kadhai and pour it on dhokala and make sure it coats well on dhokala .
  11. Cut dhokala in any shape and serve it with tamrind date or any choice of chutaney.
