Sago /sabudana kheer -how to make sago kheer
This desert is made across many parts of india as a vrat/ fasting food. Sago is used as vrat and fasting food. Sago khichadi , sago /sabudana fritters ,sago rotis or parathas are some other recipes using sago as a ingredient.
Sago kheer is very yummy kheer made using sago , full cream milk and saffron is optional. Using saffron in kheer gives it very unique colour and different taste too.Its easy to make and very
popular fasting desert too. This sago kheer is good food for babies as well. 

 

Cooking time:35 min
Ingredients:
Sago /sabudana 1 cup
Full cream milk 1 cup
Sugar 1/2 cup
Ghee 2 tea spoon
Water
A pinch of cardamom powder
Saffron strands 5-6 (optional)
Directions to cook:
  1. Wash sago with enough water in a bowl. Drain all the water from sago and keep it aside for 4to 5 hours for soaking it.
  2. Take sago in pan and add 2 cups of water in pan.
  3. Cook sago kheer on low flame for 5 to 6 minutes.
  4. Add sugar, full cream milk to sago kheer and cook for another 6 to 7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle cardamom powder and saffron strands on sago kheer and switch off gas.
  6. Pour spoon full of ghee and serve Sago kheer.
